About the
Turtle Dreamers
Circle
of Northern Virginia
Indigenous Origin
People indigenous to our land have held traditions about dreaming for a
long time. They appreciate dreams as gifts of understanding and
guidance for the tribe. People sharing dreams support and build
community. Everyone dreams and it is easy to begin remembering
dreams, if you are interested. Since dreams impart truth on many
levels, both personal and social, sharing them helps us understand
evolving situations and personal growth.
Welcome to visit
If you have recent dreams you would like to share
please feel free to join any bi-monthly meeting in Herndon,
Virginia held on Tuesday nights twice each month.
We meet from 7:30 PM sharp to 9 - 9:30 PM.
A potluck dinner happens beforehand at 6:45 PM for anyone who
wants to socialize.
We ask people to let us know if they are coming.
Building Connection
As we meet and get to know each other well, we will
consider what community projects we’d like to do and this too is a part
of indigenous tradition. Linking dreams to community service is
analogous to raising a windmill to the wind for power. If you
have ever felt that change in society is something you want and can’t
have, this is the way to get it –with connection and trust. This
service will never be a burden –we’ll each do whatever we like.
Linking to Other Circles
Another indigenous tradition we have access to is the
sweat lodge where people meet to de-tox, to pray, to connect, and to
open their minds and hearts. A lodge at Eden Valley is connected
to this dreaming circle as is the spiritual teacher LakotaHasie
Frazier, whose family taught her to dream and interpret dreams.
She got these circles started, mostly with holistic nurses and other
community-based service providers. The community expanded to
include anyone and everyone. Now there are many communities
holding a variety of events for healing and peace.
